The conservation of the islands
The most beautiful thing about the Galapagos Islands is to know from close its flora and fauna. In general, the animals of the islands are not fear by tourist, which is an added attraction for visitors. However, this makes some species an easy prey for predators introduced by colonizers of the islands such as rats, cats, pigs, goats, donkeys, etc.
Tourist trips to the Galapagos Islands are a source of income for the Galapagos National Park and with these resources they combat predators and avoid the extinction of some species. Galapagos tourism, either on board our Galapagos islands cruises or hotel-based tours are very popular and because of this the National Park could extinguish some predators of several islands.
How can you help to preserve the park?
When you visit the Galapagos National Park you need to know that you can see the animals up close but not touching them, or give food or anything that involves creating a danger to the park.
Also, it is very important that you do not litter, while you are in the islands. You can always deposit trash in a safe and appropriate manner.
Another way for you to help with the conservation of the islands is that you use reusable cloth or jute bags instead of plastic bags. This way you will contribute to a
free plastic bags campaing the Galapagos islands have join in order to reduce their use which have been one of the main causes of pollution of the sea.
